Thousand Lakes Lodge

Boutique Lodge + Restaurant Central Highlands

Average Reviews

Description

A boutique alpine wilderness lodge in the Central Highlands of Tasmania. It’s a place like no other.

Almost otherworldly, it’s remote, barren but beautiful and unique. It’s a place that can be serene and silent yet in an instant; cold, raw and unfriendly but comfort is always close by.

1000 Lakes is in the Central Plateau World Heritage Area of Tasmania, to the West is the Walls of Jerusalem to the East the Great Lakes and is, as the name suggests the ideal base for exploring the 1000 lakes area.

Only 90 minutes from Launceston and 2 hours from Hobart, it’s a stunning drive which is accessible almost all year round.

Here in this alpine environment the air is noticeably clear and the silence is inspiring, on a still day; birds, bugs and fish surfacing within your reach. On days when the wind is high and the temperature drops, it will take your breath-away and find you in awe of its harshness.

Dusk acts as a cue for native animals to commence their procession to scavenge food; wombats, quoll, Tasmanian devils, wallabies and possums transform the area into a hub of activity.

Thousand Lakes Lodge provides delicious and hearty meals when you stay.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is ordered from a menu and is a combination of assisted serve from our breakfast bar and table service. You will find a selection of continental style delights, along with local ingredients. Breakfast is included in your room rate and served between 8am and 9am daily.

BAR AND LARDER

The lounge area of the Lodge offers a Bar and Larder. The bar provides a variety of beverages, including a collection of craft beers, ciders, boutique wines and spirits sourced both locally and internationally.

We try to support local initiatives and do our best to stock up the shelves of the Larder with a selection of local products. If food temptation strikes, this is the place where tasty snacks are available.

The Bar and Larder are accessible through an assisted serve basis at set time periods each day. You record your order and at check-out we charge you accordingly.

LUNCH AND ADVENTURE PACKS

The lunch menu offers a lighter style of meals served between noon and 1pm.

If you plan on exploring the region for the day, a variety of snack and lunch adventure packs are available to order to take with you. Please let the team know the night before you set off so they can prepare them.

DINNER

A hearty dinner is served each night in the dining room using the best Tasmanian produce to satisfy a highlands hunger. There is a selection of two or three -course meals available for $59 and $74 respectively.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

We can cater for vegetarian and gluten free meal options and will do our best to cater for any other special dietary requirements.

Because we are in a remote location our meals are pre-packaged by the team at Wursthaus in Hobart. When placing your booking with us, please highlight your requirements and we will do our best to cater for you.

Due to licensing agreements we advise only food or beverages purchased onsite may be consumed within the guest lounges and communal areas.
