Astor Bar & Grill has two beautiful dining rooms located in the fabulous 1920’s Art Deco building Astor House at 157 Macquarie Street, Hobart Tasmania. The elegant dining rooms still retain Art Deco style with a modern touch.

Our emphasis – casual elegant dining with a friendly efficient serving style, local Tasmanian produce and a wonderful wine list to complete your experience.

Our philosophy is to source the best quality local and mainland seasonal produce including the freshest seafood and prime Tasmanian meats for our modern Australian menu. Our restaurant has private dining areas available for any occasion.

Your host, Rocky Doniz is a well known Hobart restaurateur. European born, having worked in some of the best restaurants and hotels around the world gathering a vast knowledge and enjoyment of food and wine along the way.

Rocky brings all that experience together with the belief that good food starts with the best produce and a commitment to friendly and professional service.

As one of the best places to eat in Hobart, our menus change regularly and are inspired by the seasons. The wonderfully diverse and fresh local Tasmanian produce and quality natural and organic products are available to us from around Australia.

We offer a very popular two course choice lunch menu, a full a la carte menu and 2 three course choice menus for functions. Call us if you need to be sure of what’s on our menus.

This Hobart venue is very popular for private functions and with two private spaces on offer exclusively for 55 diners sit down up to 65 guest cocktail style these dining areas are perfect for intimate groups celebrating a special birthday, wedding reception or anniversary and the private dining room is the ideal setting to spoil yourself and your guests.

We have an extensive wine list that is ever changing as we discover new wines for our cellar. Our wines are selected to complement our dishes and are sourced internationally as well as locally.  We’re sure there’s a wine to suit your taste.  Please ask our staff for any help you need in choosing.  We’re very proud to be a finalist in this years Tasmanian Wine List of the Year.
