Bruny Island Premium Wines, Australia’s southern most vineyard. Cellar Door sales and Restaurant.
Our family run vineyard, owned and operated by Bernice and Richard Woolley, is set on a gently sloping site with a sunny northerly aspect. Our vineyard produces premium quality, cool climate wines; grown, harvested and crafted to reflect the regions terroir, our wines have won over 40 medals in national and international wine shows. Bernice has been making the wine on-site since 2004 and has now passed on her knowledge and love for wine to her son Joseph. Joseph will take on taking on the challenging role of winemaker after completing a winemaking and viticulture diploma in New Zealand.
Our family first approach also extends to other elements of the business. Bernice’s mother Ruth Dillon, contributed the oil paintings for the labels, while the graphic design is the work of Bernice’s cousin Kylie Berry. Other family members are working in the vineyard, restaurant and cellar door.
Mid to late April all grapes are hand-picked on an annual picking day which attracts around 100 pickers in a day of vintage celebrations. All wines are made on site and include such varieties as Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
FARM TO FORK
Our food revolves around a farm-to-fork, nose-to-tail ethos. These are the two philosophies used here at Bruny Island Premium Wines, it’s about the sustainability of eating fresh seasonal produce sourced from our local farmers, as well as ensuring that we utilise each and every part from nose-to-tail. Enjoy your meal knowing that the farmer, butcher and chef have combined to deliver an unforgettable experience around your table.
