William Smith moved to the Huon Valley in Tasmania 4 generations ago in the quest for the perfect apple growing conditions. He was one of the original orchardists and trees that Willie planted are still growing today! The Smith family have maintained this passion for their craft and continue the search for the perfect apple. Willie Smith’s Apple Shed – Home of Willie Smith’s Cider. A large rustic barn surrounded by green pastures and old wooden out-buildings, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed (home of the award winning organic cider) is a place to learn about the history of the Huon Valley and apple industry while enjoying food made in our kitchen from local and regional produce.
CIDERHOUSE, DISTILLERY, EATERY AND APPLE MUSEUM A great little shed that pumps – just 25 minutes south of Hobart in the Huon Valley. Sample Willie Smith’s – some of Australia’s best cider – in the surrounds of an original 1940s apple packing shed. Charles Oates Distilling is also part of the family, creating Fine Apple Brandy and Apple Blanco on site. Take a wander in the museum, see the hundreds of heritage apples on display, enjoy a cider tasting or a tour of the Still, and then feast on the Shed’s local, seasonal dishes.
