Noted for its friendliness and warm hospitality Touchwood Cottages are situated in the heart of Stanley and are the perfect place to relax and unwind. There is an excellent cafe on-site using an abundance of local fresh produce open five days of the week.

A design Gallery and gift shop, choc-full of Tasmanian product, complete the small complex which, with its cobble stone walkways and old street lamps, is reminiscent of an English scene! All three cottages are 4 star rated and decorated in a colonial style blended with modern touches. They are well appointed, full of character and charm and extremely comfortable. All are fully self-contained. We are located within a stone’s throw of the beaches, eateries, attractions & shops. Hearty breakfast supplies, a fresh fruit bowl and chocolates with port are included in your tariff.

Cafe

Our fully licensed cafe offers Genovese quality coffee and an interesting cafe menu, showcasing a variety of food types and styles, especially the local scallops, octopus and lots of Tassie’s fabulous fresh foods and produce.  We also cater for Vegetarian and Gluten Free options.

The seasonally changing menu incorporates specialty items as well as regular favourite dishes.
We also offer our own variety of gourmet house baked cakes.

We stock some of the finest Tasmanian crafts available. Tasmanian timber products & local pottery feature in the welcome environment; many of the items are exclusive to our gallery or are only available in Tasmania.

Touchwood also stocks blown glass and pewter crafts along with other popular items such as leather crafts, pottery and ceramics, jewellery and those hard to find quality gifts.

Touchwood Cottage

Accommodating up to 4 guests comfortably, Touchwood Cottage has 2 bedrooms, (comprising 1 x Queen & Twin Singles), 2 x bathrooms, & 2 x Lounge areas. With original pressed metal ceilings and wooden floorboards, you will love the charm of this cottage.

Touchwood also boasts a colonial style kitchen with wood heating and a cosy lounge-sitting room furnished in the style of the era.

The residence also features a fully renovated bathroom with luxurious clawfoot bath, large walk in shower and colonial style washstand. Toilet is a separate area to the bathroom.
Touchwood Cottage is the oldest private residence in Stanley. Originally built as a farmhouse around 1840, it still maintains it’s old country charm and is conveniently located in the centre of town.

Local Favourites

A must for the locals and tourists alike are our very own ‘The Nut’ scones because they are as big as the monolith itself. Served with locally made raspberry jam just like Grandma’s, and freshly whipped Tasmanian cream “No Nuts but according to Google…..”The best scones in Tasmania”.

Our much sought after Raspberry and Blueberry Buttermilk muffins with drunken berry sauce and cream are also a huge favourite. Add one of our renowned quality coffees or a smooth hot chocolate made with our very own homemade chocolate vanilla sauce and guess what, you’ll be back for more. Just ask the locals.
