Description

Pennicott Wilderness Journeys is my family business which I started in 1999 with a single journey taking in Bruny Island.

Today, we operate seven tours in southern Tasmania and one in southern Victoria, highlighting the spectacular and unique wilderness and wildlife of the areas.

Over our 21 year history, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys has become a highly acclaimed environmental tourism operator and we are honoured to have won 28 Tasmanian and 12 Australian Tourism Awards.

Multi-award winning operator of Bruny Island Cruises, Tasman Island Cruises, Bruny Island Traveller, Iron Pot Cruises, Tasmanian Seafood Seduction, Wilsons Promontory Cruises and Wineglass Bay Cruises

My family and I are genuinely dedicated to operating in harmony with the environment and local communities.  We employ and train local staff, and purchase goods and services from local suppliers wherever possible.  Pennicott Wilderness Journeys is 100% Carbon Offset and an Advanced Ecotourism Certified operator. We are regularly assessed by EarthCheck and have always exceeded world’s best practice standards for efficient fuel, energy and water use.

Driven by a desire to share our success and give back to the environment and community that has always supported us, we established the Pennicott Foundation as a flagship for important philanthropic activities. A portion of your cruise ticket goes towards the Foundation.

In 2011 I circumnavigated Australia in a 5.4 metre inflatable dinghy, raising $300,000 for conservation and to assist Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio. Other projects the Foundation has contributed to include eradicating feral cats from Tasman Island and rats from Big Green Island. Since the successful eradications, over 100,000 breeding seabirds are saved each year. Last year we supported 460 organisations or community projects.

Full-Day Bruny Island Cruises Day Tour from Hobart

Admire Bruny Island by both land and sea on this day trip from Hobart that includes a 3-hour eco-cruise around the island. You’ll have the chance to see remote beaches, rugged coastlines and native wildlife like dolphins and fur seals as you cruise past steep cliffs and deep sea caves. Ferry transport to the island is included, plus morning tea and lunch on the island. Full-day tour of Bruny Island from Hobart Enjoy an exciting 3-hour cruise by custom-built boat Admire the spectacular coastal scenery Watch a colony of fur seals lazing about at the Friars Warm up with freshly baked muffins for morning tea and soup and gourmet sandwich for lunch (both included) Great photo opportunities abound!

What To Expect Your Bruny Island day trip from Hobart starts with the approximate 45-minute coach drive from the city to the coast, where you’ll catch the ferry to Adventure Bay. During the drive, admire the scenery and listen to narration from your driver about points of interest. When you reach Adventure Bay, enjoy fresh-baked muffins for morning tea before setting off on your 3-hour wilderness cruise around Bruny Island. With covered open-air seating, the custom-built adventure boat provides plenty of viewing opportunities of the wild coastline and, hopefully, sightings of local marine life. Your heart will race as you zoom between steep cliff faces, heading toward the Breathing Rock. See the treacherous location where the Southern Ocean meets the Tasman Sea, and keep your eyes open for dolphins, fur seals, sea eagles and maybe even a great white shark. When your cruise returns to shore, warm up with a lunch of homemade soup and bread, and then end your day trip with the trip back to Hobart.
