Proud family potato farmers growing, innovating and championing one of Australia’s favourite and most versatile vegetables, in beautiful Tasmania.
Along the stunning south east coast of Tasmania, overlooking picturesque Marion Bay, you’ll find the home of Daly Farm.
The Daly Family have been farming potatoes here for over 30 years, making the most of the natural advantages that this beautiful location and Tasmanian climate has to offer – rich sandy soils, clean air, and pristine water – to grow a delicious product.
Since planting their first crop of potatoes by hand in 1989, and with a focus on hard work, sustainability and innovation, the Daly Family have become one of Australia’s leading potato producers; harvesting around 4500 tonnes of high-quality washed potatoes across 603ha. In 2019 they became the 10th winners of the prestigious Kondinin Group and ABC Rural Australian Farmer of the Year Award 2019-winners
The Daly’s are continuously focused on innovation, utilising best practices, and value-adding in their farming practices.
Daly Farm potatoes have a reputation for quality and are sought after by customers. The farm supplies major supermarkets and independent retailers throughout Tasmania.
Our Potatoes
NICOLA
Nicola potatoes are a waxy oval shaped potato with a thin skin and cream/yellow buttery flesh. They are considered a great ‘all rounder’, suitable for use in a number of cooking applications including boiling, dry baking and roasting, and therefore make an excellent ‘every day’ variety. Great for mashed potato, gnocchi, potato salads (holding their shape after boiling), potato bakes.
PINK EYE
Pink Eye potatoes are very well-known and loved throughout Tasmania and get their name from the pinky/purple flushing on the skin and deep pink eyes. A beautiful waxy, creamy variety with a slighty nutty delicious flavour, Pink Eye’s hold their shape well after cooking making it a favourite choice for potato salads, or simply boiled and served whole with melted butter and a sprinkling of fresh herbs.
CANBERRA
With beautiful deep red skin and white flesh, Canberra’s have a medium starch content making them an excellent multi-purpose potato, being not too floury or too waxy. With an excellent flavour, they are suitable for roasting, pan frying and baking; making a magnificent choice for dauphinoise or potato gratin.
SPUDLITE
Spud Lite is a golden, creamy potato bursting with nutrition, that Daly Farm grow under licence in Tasmania. Spud Lite is super tasty and incredibly easy to prepare. Providing a light, creamy and non-earthy flavour when mashed and a crisp, crunchy, soft pillow texture when roasted or fried, it’s versatility makes it the complete all-rounder.
