Our name stems from the iconic Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania. The waters of which feed the Tamar River. Its surrounds are well known for high quality wines. We aim to source the best fruit from this area to produce wines with soul that are a true expression of their origin. Minimal intervention and respect for our growers’ efforts allow us to achieve this.
Cataract Wines is a small, family project of Martin and Georgina Wozniak. While Georgina (a teacher) keeps an eye over the proceedings, Martin (a qualified winemaker with over 15 years experience) gets to practice his craft. In our first vintage we processed just under 2 tonnes of grapes. So, if you like truly boutique Tassie wines, you have come to the right place.
We hope you enjoy drinking our wines as much as we have making them. Cheers!
