wukalina Walk is a 4-day/3-night palawa owned and led guided experience involving cultural activities, bush tucka and traditional foods. Walk with us on our traditional homeland at wukalina (Mt William NP) and larapuna (Bay of Fires). There are only two main days of hiking so plenty of time to sit and yarn.
Award-winning wukalina Walk is entirely different to anything else in lutruwita or, in fact, anywhere in the world.
Your small group, of up to ten people, will be led on foot by palawa guides to learn about land and sea Country. Guides have lived experience and thousands of generations of Ancestral connection to the knowledge they share and to this place.
For the first two nights you’ll sleep at the architecturally designed standing camp of krakani lumi in domed-ceiling huts set within coastal heathland. The third night is spent in a beautifully restored lightkeepers cottageat the most northern end of larapuna (Bay of Fires).
wukalina Walk will deepen and expand your understanding of and appreciation for our culture and our strong community here in lutruwita.
Although history is an integral part of this tour, wukalina Walk is as much about the lives of us as palawa today. Joining the walk supports self-determination and the journey towards an equitable future for all.
wukalina Walk departs Launceston from September to April/May. Throughout the season we offer a number of guaranteed departures regardless of guest numbers. See departure dates here.
We pay respects to our Old People, our Ancestors, on whose traditional lands wukalina Walk takes place. For us to be here today, practising and sharing our culture on our homelands, is testament to their extraordinary strength and resilience – it’s on their shoulders we stand. We acknowledge and appreciate the continued inspiration and support of our community right across lutruwita. We are stronger together.
