Description

Penguin’s corner store offering local produce, provisions & quality wares.

Championing responsible production, thoughtful consumption & connected community.

Welcome to Penguin’s corner store, offering the freshest local fruit and vegetables, as well as a delightful range from local producers and makers. Fresh sourdough, made lovingly by Devonport’s Pigeon Whole Bakers, is available daily.

In our store we value responsible production and invite considered consumption. We give thought to the environmental and social impact of every product we sell, aiming to provide you with the best possible choice.

Our hope is that when you shop with us you will ask how, where and by whom your food is grown, and that together we can reconnect with our food and the people producing it.

The Penguin Pantry is one part of our vision for transforming the food system for healthier people and planet.

Our Tasmanian-based farming business West Pine strives to produce food and renewable energy without the environmental or social costs. We believe that through innovation, collaboration and positive impact, we can rise to the challenge of producing more with less, all whilst making this one and precious world of ours a much better place for future generations.

Connected Community. Zero Waste. Carbon Negative.
Our Approach

Connected Community
We strive to be a place where we can come together as a local community and connect with each other. We hope we can foster discussions on food, how it is grown, how it is cooked and how it is shared.

Zero Waste
When we started out we were naive in just how much waste is created throughout the food supply chain. We’re wanting transparency in the supply chain and are taking steps to reduce the waste our business creates. This includes donating fruit and vegetables to our local community, before it becomes food waste; removing single use plastic from the store; and choosing suppliers that produce less waste.

Carbon Negative
We’re working towards reducing our carbon impact, with the aim of being Carbon Negative by 2030. To do this we are shortening our supply chains, supporting local renewable energy projects, and revegetating local farmland.
