Seven and a Half

Private Dining Shared Table Experience Hobart

Average Reviews

Description

Seven and a Half is a space for escape and retreat high above Hobart. A place to share a table and break bread with friends and strangers alike.

Over the next year up here at The Pod, a building sitting on the rooftop of another building on Macquarie Street, we’re hosting a variety of events dedicated to conviviality and culture, design and history.

“I’ve always been intrigued by dining on top of buildings,” says Luke Burgess. “I think it was something that really fascinated me on trips to Tokyo – yakitori joints next to dental surgeries on the 10th floor in Ginza, or sake bars tucked away in Shinjuku highrises. Whatever it was, there’s something I really like about riding a lift up to a space high above the everyday bustle of the street.”

In that spirit, Seven and a Half kicks off its residency in Hobart with a leisurely Sunday lunch with a full chorus of drinks and good times.

Come join us up here. A place high above Hobart where the pleasures of the table are paramount and conviviality is front and centre

How it works

It’s a shared table for 10 people – everyone is seated and served together, but you’re also welcome to book the whole 10 seats. Lunch is $260 a head with matched drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic or both) by the glass.

Who’s cooking

Luke Burgess is a chef, photographer and restaurateur best known for his work at Garagistes, the Hobart restaurant he ran with co-owners Katrina Birchmeier and Kirk Richardson from 2010 to 2015.

Seven and a Half might be easier to pronounce than Garagistes, but it has just as much of a spirit of adventure in what goes onto the plate and into the glass.

The details

At present we are serving a long lunch on Sundays commencing at 1pm. Other days and events will be added as we settle in and get a feel for the space.

Menus and the beverages may differ on a weekly or monthly basis. It all depends on the season, what we’re reading or memories of a meal long ago.

Due to the limited spaces a reservation is necessary to join the table. All the relevant booking information is in the T & C’s via the OBEE link. All bookings are required to be prepaid.

Seven and a half is located at the AVALON CITY RETREAT on level 7, 152 Macquarie Street. Entry is through the foyer and on weekends you will be greeted at the front door.

Being situated atop a commercial building in the middle of Hobart means there’s a few quirks when it comes to finding us and getting up to the seven and a half floor.

Entry is at street level below the orange glass tiles of said street number. On weekends the doors will be locked, but we’ll be kind enough to let you in for a quick get to know you session with your fellow guests. You’ll be led into a foyer and transported up to level seven by elevator and guided to the pod aka “seven and a half”.

We can cater for a limited range of dietaries as it is a shared table experience. At present we cannot cater for diets that are Vegan / FODMAP or dairy free dependant. For all other allergies email us via the contact page and we can discuss the options.

Regrettably the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
