King Island Brewhouse

Anchored in the middle of the Bass Strait, King Island is as rugged and remote as it gets! At the heart of our beautiful island is where you’ll find us brewing. Surrounded by rolling hills, fresh air, and stunning farmland we love sharing our passion for quality fresh beer with our King Island mates and visitors.

We try to capture the essence of King Island in every bottle. The strong westerly ‘Roaring Forties’ winds that push across the Indian Ocean are the cleanest in the world and bring with them plentiful rainfall. It is this pristine rainwater which is the foundation of our brewing process.

King Island is renowned for its award winning produce and products; from rich gourmet cheese,  succulent beef, and fresh crayfish plucked straight from the salty waters of our Island. All that’s been missing was delicious fresh brew to serve it with! 

Tough beginnings as Lighthouse Keepers, sealers, miners and soldier settler farmers have shaped the King Island people into a strong, resilient and supportive community.

King Island Brewhouse was started in the spirit of this community, with a local family wanting to provide the King Island community, and visitors to our beautiful island, with locally brewed beer.

Situated in a purpose build shed surrounded by the family’s prime grazing land, the brewery and attached taproom offer a relaxed environment for people to gather and sample our beer, cider and other brews.

Make an afternoon of it and enjoy a freshly poured King Island Beer (or two) with mates while sitting back to enjoy the scenery.  Just 17mins from Currie, you’ll feel like you’re on another island as you drive away from the coast and into the countryside.
