Three Steps on George is the in-house restaurant & bar in the Colonial Hotel Launceston and prides its self on being a family friendly restaurant.

Three Steps on George provides a comfortable meeting place for friends and business associates alike to relax in the ambience of our old historic building, play a serious game of eight ball or sit back to watch news or live sports on the big screen tv.  Our team of talented Chefs offer an extensive menu inspired by traditional British cuisine that incorporates classic dishes that are generously sized and embrace the freshest of locally sourced ingredients, offered to you at affordable prices.  We offer the option of room service to our guest that stay in house from 5:30pm until 9pm, 5 nights a week. 

The setting boasts a quiet atmosphere to relax with a drink indoors or in our tranquil garden outside, meet for a bite to eat with loved ones beside the log fire or arrange an intimate dinner for two on our second storey mezzanine upstairs, with a birds eye view of the restaurant.   

Three Steps On George was originally the Launceston Church Grammar School Gymnasium. Whilst there is no vaulting horse nowadays, the building has been tastefully redecorated in the interior design style of a traditional British Pub, with hand stencilling and sponged finishes. Adorning the walls are original photographs of sporting teams and former students of Launceston Church Grammar School.
