We (my husband Michael and I) relocated recently and are now living in a beautiful 1890’s farm cottage in Geeveston, Tasmania. We’re surround by wonderful produce and a seasonal rhythm that we’re definitely not used to.
There is still plenty to set up – the kitchen needs a bit of a makeover before it’s properly functional; the veggie gardens are non existent and we haven’t got anywhere to put any chooks at the moment. It’s a bit of a work in progress but very exciting.
I’ve had market stalls, organised farmer’s markets, run a cafe, done postgraduate studies in gastronomy, conducted cooking classes and judged preserves and cakes at the Brisbane Show (The Ekka) and smaller shows around town.
I cook most days and it’s the thing I miss when we are on holiday.
I love spending time in the kitchen. If I have time I like making things from scratch, trying new recipes and experimenting with new ingredients.
Hopefully I can provide a little inspiration for you to spend just a bit of time in the kitchen.
You’ll find me on the 2nd and 4th Sunday’s at Farmgate Market in Hobart. The market runs from 8.30am-1.00pm. Look forward to seeing you there.
