Ten Days on the Island … a milestone approaches

With our next Festival in March 2021 we are busily exploring ways to celebrate 20 years of Ten Days on the Island!

We are proud of our record and honour the very many artists, companies, audiences, communities and Ten Days’ people (Board Directors, employees and volunteers) who have kept the vision alive and ensured that the Festival remains a flagship for the arts and for our island.

We remain committed to supporting Tasmanian artists and bringing remarkable arts experiences to Tasmanians across the state.

People often ask what happens between biennial festivals and I think there’s a sense that things are pretty quiet in the intervening 720 days when we’re not presenting a program. Nothing could be further from the truth as the creative team explores ideas for Festival program and negotiates arrangements with artists in Tasmania and around the world and the Board and administration team build connections with prospective partners, donors and supporters.

Our new model, curated by internationally renowned Artistic Director Lindy Hume, of an “epic 10-day adventure over three weekends in the three regional heartlands of Tasmania” was a resounding success, with audiences delighting in a program selected to meet the particular interests and opportunities of communities, towns and cities across the island.

We’ll certainly repeat the model in 2021, with Lindy and the team exploring new, challenging and stimulating projects, whilst setting up local, national and international partners for the journey.

There will be lots happening between now and March 2021, with opportunities to hear about the Festival program in development and, perhaps, the chance to see some work-in-progress.

Be sure your current contact details are on our mailing list, so we can keep you up-to-date with our plans and progress.

Warmest wishes and many thanks for your support and ongoing interest.
